Rules and Guidelines
General Rules
Eligibility: The Desi Junction Dance League competition is open to dancers of all ages, with a minimum age requirement of 6 years.
Categories: Participants may choose to compete in one or more of the following dance styles: Bollywood, Classical, or Folk.
Age Categories: Participants will be grouped into age categories: Kids (6-12 years), Youth (13-17 years), and Adults (18 years and above).
Performance Types: Participants may compete either as solo performers or as part of a group.
Originality: Performances should showcase creativity and originality. Plagiarism or unauthorized use of copyrighted material is strictly prohibited.
Performance Guidelines
Time Limit: Solo performances should not exceed 3 minutes, while group performances should not exceed 5 minutes.
Music: All music must be submitted to the organizers in advance (2 Weeks Before Finals) and should be in MP3 format. Performers must provide their own music tracks, free from any explicit or inappropriate content.
Costumes and Props: Costumes and props should be appropriate for the chosen dance style and must not pose any safety hazards. Excessive or distracting costumes and props are discouraged.
Stage Etiquette: Performers should adhere to proper stage etiquette, including entering and exiting the stage promptly, avoiding blocking the view of other performers, and respecting the stage crew's instructions.
Judging Criteria
Technique: Judges will evaluate the participants based on their technical proficiency, including execution, precision, and mastery of dance movements.
Expression and Emotion: Performers will be judged on their ability to convey emotion and tell a compelling story through their dance.
Creativity: Judges will assess the creativity and originality of each performance, including choreography, costume design, and use of props.
Stage Presence: Participants should demonstrate confidence, charisma, and stage presence throughout their performance.
Disqualification
Violation of Rules: Participants found to be in violation of any of the competition rules may be subject to disqualification at the discretion of the organizers.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Unsportsmanlike conduct, including but not limited to cheating, harassment, or disrespect towards fellow participants, judges, or event staff, will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification.
Safety Concerns: Performances that pose a safety risk to the participants or audience members may result in immediate disqualification.
